Unfortunately, unlike olden days, due to changes in social milieu, the welfare of the senior citizens is being neglected in several families and thus has become a big challenge to the Society. Our Kendra has risen to this occasion and has built a Senior Citizen Home. These Senior Citizens hail from Nelamangala Taluk, Bangalore District and some even from distant places of Karnataka. They are provided with free food, accommodation and we have created environment for their community living in peace and harmony. Periodical medical checkups are being conducted, if required referrals have been made to the specialty hospitals. The home is also well stock of periodicals and magazines for them to read and keep in touch with current affairs and outside world. To keep them fit and healthy, they are involved in regular physical activity like exercises, gardening, yoga classes etc. They celebrate all the festivals and National events. Presently, 75 inmates are availing these facilities.
Nelamangala town is situated besides major national highway of the State. According to the survey conducted in Nelamangala, the accidents occur due to flouting of the traffic rules. To impart basic education on road safety awareness, this programme is being conducted by the organization as a social responsibility to spread awareness of the traffic rules which could avoid accidents. Hence, the organization provides education on traffic rules through street and Stage Theater. In the last three years, nearly, 10,000 members of the community are benefited through these programmes conducted by our Institution. These programs were organized and conducted with the support of Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport, and Highways.
The office of the Divyajyothi Vidya Kendra is located just few hundred meters away from the 6 lined NH-4 Bangalore-Pune Highway where number of minor and fatal accidents take place and many victims lose their life due to lack of timely medical aid. Some of the accident victims lay in the accident site since they are caught in the mangled vehicle. Divyajyothi Vidya Kendra as a response to the road accidents, introduced services to provide rescue and first aid to the road accident victims. The Crane is used to extricate the mangled remains after the accident. To support our commendable job, Government of India has provided a Crane and Ambulance to our Kendra to offer timely help to the road accident victims and also to rush the victims to the nearest hospital for medical assistance. During last three years, we have attended around 150 such incidents and saved many precious lives.
