Neladani Community Radio Station

Considering the credibility of our institution in providing proactive and distinguished services in the overall development of the community, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India under their CRS policy have sanctioned a Neladani Community radio station for our Institution. This license is provided by Government to only selected institutions after detailed verification of the antecedents of the institution and its promoters by Ministry of Home Affairs, Defense, HRD, and Telecom etc.


Government also checks the finance, managerial capability and also most importantly, preparation and capacity for sustenance by the promoters for smooth operating of the radio station. To establish our credentials, we have made a detailed presentation to the screening committee consisting of eminent persons drawn from Ministry and Civil Society on our activities, detailed profile of the community obtained from elaborate survey. License for our Institution was issued by Ministry of Information and broadcasting and Department of Wireless planning and coordination, Ministry of Communication only after all these processes. We have named our community radio station as "Neladani" a Kannada word literally meaning voice of the soil. For this CRS station, we have built an exclusive building based on the inputs provided by the experts and we have a top class sound recording and transmission Studio along with 50 watt FM transmitter in 1+1 mode.

The Neladani station is operating on 90.8 MHz and available in around 8-10 KM radius of Nelamangala town covering Nelamangala and portion of Bangalore North Taluk. The entire technical setup was established by Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Ltd, a PSU under the administrative control of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Neladani Radio was inaugurated by Honourable Union Minister of State for Railways Sri K.H.Muniyappa 3rd September 2011 and started functioning from April 2011 itself.

Our station has its own signature tune and song authored by well known Kannada poet Professor Doddarange Gowda. Music for this signature tune and song is composed by well known music director Dr.Pattar. We have constituted a program advisory committee consisting of experts, general public, and community leaders to decide about the content for the Radio station. Based on their inputs, content on varied subject like Agriculture, education, medicine, folk song, children program, bhajans etc is prepared by the community themselves for broadcasting by our station. Communities living around our town enthusiastically involve and participate in day today activities of the station making it as a real community radio whose motto is by the people and for the people. In addition, we have produced content on Human / Children health, cultural programmes and folk programmes for broadcasting. Titles of some of the interesting regular contents are Bhava Loka, Krushi Belaku, Janapada Loka, Nada Lahari, Mathu Manikya, Archana, Chitra Rangini, Adige Mane, Chinara Loka, Vachana Sourabha etc. We have been well supported by Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India for producing content on farm related programs. We have Dr.B.P.Shashikanth. an eminent writer, scientist and retired faculty of University of Agriculture Science, Bangalore on our roll for producing content on agriculture using organic methods, horticulture, food technology and related topics.
